Merry Christmas from a Happy Lilienna!

Giving thanks

Lilienna worked very hard getting the house ready for Thanksgiving, and her cousin Henry wanted to show his appreciation.

'Uncle Nick' takes in his first intoxicating encounter with Lili. Ain't she cute?

Bathtime a few days before Thanksgiving! Check out the fancy plywood countertop and walls - oooh... We'll post some pictures when the kitchen's done. (Check back in 2007)

At Long Last

Here we go...a totally staged, two - weeks - after - Halloween picture. Oops. She's really cute though, so hopefully you'll forgive us. We'll throw in some more pictures, trying to make up for it.

Lili loves her daily massage. Daddy's jealous.

Cousin Henry's high chair was a little imposing for her, but she held her own just fine.

Lili smiles...

Takin' a walk

We're stealing some photos from Grandma Marian's stash for this post. Lili loves going for a walk, be it down Main Street in Manayunk or strolling around Longwood Gardens. She perks up whenever Mommy or Daddy puts on her sling and she loves to gaze at trees and people and flowers and stuff.

We promise...pictures of Lili in her Halloween costume will be online shortly!

The Move

Let's play Match the Caption with the Photo!

Can you spot the 1950's football star in this photo?

Grandpa 'Oscar' plays some 3D Tetris

Before the move, Daddy and Mommy's friend Renee threw a little surprise B-Day party for Mommy

Larry exults as 'Oscar' and Brendan show their excitement over filling an entire house with stuff

Lili enjoys some rice cereal in her first days in her new home - mmmmm...rice...

Cousin Henry drove all the way up for the big event

Renee displays the furthest anyone would bring our stuff (just kidding)

Larry got a little kickback from Penske

Aunt Kathy's visit

Lili loves to smile at people! She loves dancing to Beethoven's Ninth, as sung by mommy. She also enjoys Aunt Kathy's whistling christmas carols. A music student already!

Daddy-daughter day

Here we see daddy trying to weasel some predictions for NFL week 1 from Lili. She may have it all figured out, but she's not telling. This picture just missed Lili straining to lick daddy's nose. Mmmmm...nose...

Giraffe love

Lili has a thing for giraffes, I guess. Poor Giraffee was vying for Lili's attention but our heroine couldn't take her eyes off of G jr., who for some reason hangs out on the side of Lili's swing 24/7/365.

Lili's been battling reflux recently. Don't worry, her parents took much less than four days to come to her aid. We're hoping a new medicine (Erythromycin - we're looking for the intended side effect of increased GI muscle movement) takes care of it.

Updating Lili's favorite pastimes: Smiling at baby bee, licking stuff, being all cute, staring at Kalik's stripes, rolling over, etc...

Lili and family are praying for the safety of all the people stranded by Katrina and all those trying to help them.

10 weeks already?

Yup, Lili's over ten weeks old, and last doctor's visit (to get some shots - shniff) she was ten pounds, twelve ounces and 22-1/2 inches tall. For those of you who like stats, that's just about fiftieth percentile for all babies. They make charts for down syndrome, and it looks like she's about 90th plus percentile on those. You go, girl!

She's doing so well. She is the sweetest baby on earth (we have no bias whatsoever and do not engage in hyperbole). She smiles and coos and squeaks and grunts. She is very responsive, and will copy mommy's happy face or surprised playful gasp. Her acid reflux, which was a battle earlier, is getting under control with a few medicines (Zantac and Prevacid, both in sweet baby-friendly forms) and thickened breast milk (using Simply Thick, a xanthan gum-based thickener that we order from St. Louis). Xanthan gum is a great ingredient for gluten-free baking; I never thought we would use it to make honey-consistency breast milk...

No pics this time, just wanted to give y'all an update on stuff. The home inspection went pretty well; he gave us a few things to follow up on in the next few days, boiler, chimney...but no huge problems.

Lili has the best extended family and friends in the world. She wanted to thank you all (if you're reading this, that means you) for everything you've done for her.

Lili's new house?

Lili (and family) have had their offer accepted on a house near State College, PA! It was the first house they looked at on a real estate tour last week, and it's a perfect fit. It's located in the historic district of a little town just outside of State College. There's a backyard with a playhouse and swingset, lots of room for visitors (so come visit!), lots of trees, cool hardwood floors, etc...
Closing is September 30, so wish us luck!

Tummy Time!

Lili's favorite things include: tummy time, spending time with friends, jumping in puddles and long walks on the beach. Here she enjoys the first two, except Giraffee seems to have fallen asleep trying to get Lili's attention. Speaking of tummy time, she rolled over on the floor today (proving her love for the prone position) for the fourth time. Her first rollover was at five weeks(!). No, mommy and daddy didn't help. And no, our floor isn't horribly tilted.

Lili's cuz

Here's an 'old' picture of Lili and her cousin Henry. Hopefully this will keep the fan club satiated until Mommy and Daddy get enough sleep to help her post some new pictures. She'll also tell her life story in a soon to come post - 'Memoirs of an 8 week old'. Stay tuned!

Back to the past

We can all tell from this photo that Lili adores her mommy, and vice versa.

Lili is already becoming active in her community, joining a little group known as the Black Panthers soon after turning three weeks old. Her specialties include feeding the poor and burning stuff. Fight the power!

We want to thank everyone who has checked out our little site so far and we promise much more to come. Comments or questions are welcome as otherwise I won't know what to post, except silly jokes and cute pictures.

Some more recent pictures

Since people are actually checking out this blog, I thought some more current pictures are in order while we catch up on the last few weeks. She wanted to show off how cute she is, but I also had to reveal her newest pastime: drinking and watching 'The Simpsons". Terrible.

Her first weeks

Lili took a strong interest in hip-hop around two weeks old. (Not really) Here she practices some poses she saw on MTV. This picture was taken not too long after her first real bath, since her umbilical cord stump fell off the day before.

Lili met her Aunt Kathy in Philadelphia and took a trip to Williamsport to meet her Uncle Stuart and Aunt Melanie the weekend of her two week birthday. The camera timer worked, and got a nice picture of Lili, her mom and dad, Grandma Marian and Aunt Kathy and the cover of 'Be Prepared', the only reason daddy has half a clue how to be a daddy. (The other half he copies off Lili's mom)

Where's my food?

Lilienna's first days

We'll start with a few photos from Lili's first few hours. She was presenting face first (she wanted to see what all the fuss was about) so Sara had a C-Section. Lili got a little bruised from the labor, but that went down quickly.

She had a little jaundice after a day or so, earning her a trip to the fine tanning salon in the nursery for about twenty-four hours. Her bilirubin levels were better, but they wanted to keep her wrapped in the Wallabee blanket to make sure her levels stayed low.

Here she is at five days old, home and being all cute for the camera. Please note the large butt, actually her cloth diapers. More to come soon!
